Post Assessment

1. Following an initial assessment, which would have highlighted your childs strengths and areas for improvement, a face to face consultation takes place between you and the leading tutor to decide on the best course of action for your child.

2. We then prepare a personalised learning plan from which your child will work during the course of their studies.

3. Your child will be tutored by qualified teachers and classroom assistants in small groups with a low ratio of one teacher to every 8 children.

4. Your child will receive a tailored lesson each time they attend enabling them to learn at their own pace. After each lesson your child’s work is marked and the results are logged. A new set of work is prepared by the teacher ready for their next lesson – ensuring each lesson is always stimulating.

We have a firm belief in praising a child’s work – this builds confidence and changes a child’s attitude to learning and studying. The Excel Tuition method ensures children reach their potential and gain confidence, in turn providing parents with valuable peace of mind. Because the Excel Tuition ASSESSMENT provides a unique ACTION PLAN for each child, his or her progress is dictated only by his or her ability and initiative. A child’s individual ACTION PLAN is not affected by a group or strict teaching agenda. This allows children to work at their own pace and achieve realistic goals.

We are pleased to offer one to one tuition as well as group tuition. Our one to one personalised tuition is available to parents if they feel that this is the best course of action for their child’s development. Or if they feel that their child is struggling with a particular topic or subject, support is always available for them to overcome any such hurdles.

Group Tuition

We believe group tuition is preferable at this young age for a number of reasons. Firstly, it provides a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for the children to learn in. Secondly, it allows parents to compare their child against others of a similar ability. Finally, it enables us to provide realistic mock examinations.

Course material

We use our own course materials and a wide selection of past papers. Initially students receive work that they can complete with confidence but very swiftly move onto new topics and subjects that are more challenging. This is done to ensure that children settle comfortably and are use to the style and method of teaching.

Vocabulary

As part of their learning children are required to learn, understand and memorise new high frequency vocabulary each week. The amount of new vocabulary varies from group to group so an electronic dictionary is recommended, this is to help develop their English and verbal reasoning skills.
